On March 5–6, 2026, the 15th edition of the Science Festival took place at the Bolesław Prus High School in Warsaw—an event that has for years inspired students to explore the world of science, fostered their curiosity, and encouraged them to ask questions. This year’s edition was co-created by experts from the Łukasiewicz Institutes, who led the lectures.

Thanks to the involvement of specialists from various fields, students had the opportunity to see how fascinating and diverse modern science can be.

A rich program and expert presentations

The invited speakers included representatives of the Łukasiewicz – I Institute of Industrial Organic Chemistry and the Łukasiewicz – Warsaw Institute of Technology, who presented topics in the field of chemical, engineering and biological sciences.

On the first day of the event, March 5, scientists from Łukasiewicz – Institute of Industrial Organic Chemistry:

  • Katarzyna Cieślak, PhD , in the lecture “How to become a scientist” she talked about her research career path, from student to scientist, and explained who a scientist is.
  • Katarzyna Gańczyk-Specjalska, PhD , in her speech “Are all explosives dangerous?” she introduced the topic of the use of high-energy substances and talked about the types of explosives.
  • Gabriel Biegniewski, MSc Eng, In his presentation, “Can You Talk to an Insect?”, he took students into the world of insects. He explained how they communicate with their surroundings and how scientists study their complex interactions with nature.

The stand of Łukasiewicz – Institute of Industrial Organic Chemistry also attracted great interest, where students could learn about the institute’s activities and talk to experts.

On the second day of the festival, March 6, a lecture by a representative of Łukasiewicz – Warsaw Institute of Technology took place:

  • Artur Rudowicz, MSc Eng. , in the presentation “Corrosion – around us”, he introduced students to the electrochemical processes occurring in metals, anodizing methods and modern surface protection technologies used, among others, in the aviation and biomedical industries.

– It is thanks to your passion, commitment and willingness to share knowledge that our school could once again become a place where science comes alive – it becomes inspiration, delight and discovery – said Renata Sidoruk-Sołoducha, biology teacher at Bolesław Prus High School XXXV, on behalf of the organizers.

Such initiatives not only broaden students’ horizons, but also strengthen their courage, develop their passion and build confidence in their own abilities.

Thank you for the opportunity to co-create this unique event.
