Science festivals are a great opportunity to popularize knowledge and show how scientific research affects our lives. As a research institute, we are happy to share our knowledge and experience. That is why we took part for the second time in the Science Festival in Prus, which took place on March 27-28, 2025 at the XXXV Bolesław Prus High School with Bilingual Departments in Warsaw. During the event, we had the opportunity to present three lectures prepared by our experts.

Monika Zaręba-Kozioł, PhD introduced the topic of the impact of chemistry on our everyday life, focusing on its importance for health and the environment. She presented innovative technologies and research conducted at our institute, focusing on sustainable solutions and the role of green chemistry in the future of science. Her lecture was met with great interest, especially among young people interested in modern technologies and environmental protection.
Katarzyna Gańczyk-Specjalska, PhD Eng. gave a lecture on explosives and the risks associated with their use. Students had the opportunity to learn about the types of explosives, where they are used, and what precautions are necessary when testing and using them.
The lecture by Zbigniew Krasnodębski concerned the participation of Łukasiewicz – Institute of Organic Industry in activities increasing the safety of chemical substances. The research on the properties of substances and educational activities conducted by the Institute in Poland and around the world were discussed. The presentation was enriched with numerous photos from the implementation of international projects in which our specialists participated.

At our stand, participants could also familiarize themselves with dummies and mock-ups of some explosives, which enjoyed great interest. Among other things, one could see a mock-up of a marching charge, shaped charges, explosive compacts, and solid rocket propellants.
Participating in the Science Festival in Prus was a valuable experience for us. Meetings with young people, the opportunity to popularize science, and talks about the real impact of research on safety and the environment are our priorities. We would like to thank all participants for their presence and hope to meet again at the next editions!
