Jakub Gadek, PhD
Education
He graduated from the Faculty of Technical Physics, Computer Science, and Applied Mathematics at the Lodz University of Technology, where he also obtained his PhD in technical sciences in the field of computer science. He completed an MBA at the Cracow University of Economics and is an alumnus of the ‘Oxford Executive Leadership Programme’ organized by the University of Oxford, as well as the Academy of Science Managers, organized by the Foundation for Polish Science.
Experience
He has managed numerous teams and served as Director of the Łukasiewicz – Institute for Sustainable Technologies and Deputy Director of the Łukasiewicz – Institute of Electrical Engineering. He worked as a science officer at the National Science Centre (NCN) in Krakow and represented the NCN internationally. He was a member of the Science Europe ‘Research Careers Working Group.’ He has led numerous projects and served as a member of the Scientific Council of NASK, the National Research Institute. He is currently a member of the Mazovian Innovation Council, under the Marshal of the Mazovian Voivodeship. Additionally, he serves as an expert for the European Commission, the National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR), the Centre for EU Transport Projects (CPPC), the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development (PARP), and several Regional Operational Programs.”

Anna Czykwin, MSc
Education
A manager with over a decade of experience in the research and development sector. A graduate of Warsaw University of Technology, Faculty of Chemical and Process Engineering, as well as the Faculty of Production Engineering, where she studied Management and Marketing. She also completed postgraduate studies in Research Project Management and Commercialisation of Research Results at Kozminski University (IPMA Level D Certificate).
Experience
Currently Deputy Director for Finance and Operations at the Łukasiewicz Research Network – Institute of Industrial Organic Chemistry. Previously, she served as Deputy Director for Finance and Administration and as Deputy Director for Economic Affairs and Administration at the same Institute.
From 2000 to 2015, she held a number of positions, including Deputy Director for Economic and Organisational Affairs at the Institute for Fuels and Renewable Energy; Director’s Representative for Research Projects and Director’s Representative for Organisational Affairs at the Industrial Automotive Institute. She also worked as an R&D infrastructure expert under the 2007–2013 Operational Programmes, as a financial expert for the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development (PARP), and provided advisory services to SMEs as part of a project concerning the privatisation of chemical plants, including Z.Ch. Police S.A., Z.A. Tarnów-Mościce S.A., Z.A. Puławy S.A. and Z.A. Kędzierzyn S.A.
She has also coordinated numerous projects and was involved in the preparation of the INNOMOTO sectoral programme.
Deputy Director of Research
Bartłomiej Wierzba, Professor
Education
Professor of Engineering and Technical Sciences in the field of Materials Science. He graduated with a master’s degree in computer science from the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science, Institute of Computer Science at the Jagiellonian University in 2003.
In 2007, he defended his doctoral dissertation at the Faculty of Metals Engineering and Industrial Computer Science at the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków. Five years later, in 2012, he defended his habilitation thesis at the Faculty of Materials Science and Ceramics at the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków. The academic title of professor was conferred upon him on February 28, 2020, by the President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda.
Experience
A long-term research and academic staff member at higher education institutions. Frequently awarded for scientific achievements (12 Rector’s Awards), recipient of the Minister of Science and Higher Education’s Scholarship for Outstanding Young Scientists, and the Silver Cross of Merit for scientific work. Author of over 150 scientific publications, including more than 70 with Impact Factor.
Leader, author, and contributor to numerous research projects. Editor-in-chief of the journal Mechanik and reviewer of numerous doctoral dissertations, habilitation thesis, and articles in scientific journals. Expert for the National Centre for Research and Development (NCBiR), Polish Agency for Enterprise Development (PARP), and Polish Science Foundation (FNP).
Creator of technological solutions, including the gas carburization process for gears in Airbus engines, the chemical vapour deposition (CVD) method, and others. Interested in modern materials, renewable energy sources, and energy storage.
